Certificaton Requirements
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanicak Engineers should get a certification because it gives a validation of knowledge, increase marketability, better reputation, credibility, and confidence, and earn respect. Most engineers don't try to get professional licensure when they should. If a Mechanical Engineer has a certification, they usually have an advantage over other Mechanical Engineers. There are certification programs for Mechanical Engineering. Some programs include advanced mechanics of materials, stress analysis, finite element analysis, integrated manufacturing systems, computer-aided design, convection heat transfer, advanced vibrations, dynamic systems, advanced control systems design. Some areas have organizations that give certifications like ASME, National Fire Preventaion, and more (Ricci).
Education
Background courses for people interested in being a mechanical engineer are mathematics, problem solving, reading, writing, algebra, geometry, physics, and chemistry (Arroyo). Earning a Bachelor's degree would require 4-5 years in college. Some colleges and universities offer 5 year programs that allow students to obtain both a Bachelor's and Master's degree. Most engineering programs are hosted by AET. Students can become more experienced by taking a 5-6 year cooperative plan. It can also help them pay off part of their education (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
